 Latest Tournament Updates

The 2026 Tour de France has entered its intense mountain stage battle. A major upset occurred in Stage 15’s 183.9km high-altitude race: Jonas Vingegaard, two-time Tour de France champion and the top title contender, suffered a high-speed crash 20km before the finish line. Diagnosed with a clavicle fracture, he officially withdrew from the 2026 Tour de France, completely reshaping the overall general classification pattern.

The Stage 15 finished at the HC-class Col de Soulzon climb, with an average gradient of 9% over 11.3km, bringing extreme racing intensity. Belgian superstar Remco Evenepoel claimed his first stage victory of this year’s Tour, consolidating his second place in the overall standings, 5 minutes behind the yellow jersey holder Tadej Pogačar. UAE Team Emirates youngster Juan Ayuso retained the white jersey for the best young rider and ranked top three in the general classification.

Multiple new historical records have been set in the 2026 Tour de France. The flat tailwind Stage 11 achieved an average racing speed of 50.91km/h, breaking the century-old fastest single-stage record of the Tour de France. Frequent mass crashes in sprint stages have also made the latest UCI safety regulations a hot topic in the global cycling industry.

2026 UCI New Rules Popular Science

All professional riders have abandoned ultra-narrow handlebars in the 2026 season, complying with the mandatory new safety regulations issued by UCI. The new rules stipulate that the minimum outer width of road bike drop handlebars shall not be less than 400mm, with strict limits on the tilt angle of brake levers.

Ultra-narrow handlebars can reduce wind resistance and save 8-12W of power output, but they severely sacrifice handling stability. They shorten the control lever, reduce fault tolerance during high-speed cornering and emergency braking, and greatly increase the risk of crashing. The new regulations aim to standardize professional cycling equipment and reduce group accident rates.

For amateur cyclists, blindly copying professional ultra-narrow handlebars is not recommended. It will cause chest compression, insufficient oxygen supply, long-term neck and shoulder strain, and unstable downhill control. The 420mm standard wide handlebar and upper-narrow & lower-wide special-shaped handlebars are the most balanced choices for daily riding.

Your Success, Our Export Mission

1.Wider Tires Become the Mainstream

Professional teams have gradually eliminated traditional 25c narrow tires and widely adopted 28c-32c tubeless tires. Wider tires deliver lower rolling resistance, better shock absorption and less riding fatigue during long-distance climbing. Different teams adopt differentiated tire configurations according to track conditions to adapt to flat speed pursuit and mountain road shock absorption demands.

2.Short Crank Arms Gain Popularity
Top riders including Pogačar and Evenepoel have switched from traditional 170mm crank arms to 165mm short cranks. Short crank arms reduce hip joint movement range, stabilize the torso during climbing, effectively relieve knee pressure, and optimize long-term pedaling efficiency.
3.Integrated Cockpit & Aerodynamic Frame Standardization
With the relaxation of UCI frame pipe size restrictions, mainstream models from major brands feature unified aerodynamic designs: fully internal cable routing, widened lower tubes and sinking seat stays. Integrated cockpits have become the standard configuration for high-end road bikes, achieving a comprehensive upgrade of aerodynamic performance.

 Industry & Riding Popular Science

In 2026, the global cycling consumption trend has shifted from blind lightweight pursuit to personalized adaptation and professional matching. Professional Bike Fit services are increasingly popular among amateur cyclists. Disc brakes and tubeless tires have fully replaced traditional rim brakes and narrow tires, with safety and adaptability becoming the core consumption criteria.

For daily amateur riding, maintaining a cadence of 80-100 RPM, standard saddle height and reasonable gear shifting logic can effectively avoid knee and waist injuries. Professional extreme configurations are not suitable for daily commuting and leisure riding; safety and comfort are the long-term core of cycling.
